Memorial Day Weekend is upon us and has long become a getaway weekend filled with parties and bar-b-ques galore. Let us not forget what Memorial Day is for and why we celebrate it.
On Memorial Day, we honor our fallen heroes and soldiers of past and present wars. We honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to their country. We give thanks to those who have given their heart and soul for their country. From world wars to the current war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, young men and women have fought for freedom and for democracy. On Memorial Day, regardless of party and opinion, we all salute those men and women who have given and lost so much during wartime and abroad. Thank you.
