FRUIT OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH

For the month of March we are pleased to offer delicous Granny Smith Apples from the state of Washington as the item for our Fruit Of The Month Club. The Granny Smith apple originated from Australia in 1868 from a seedling propagated by Marina Ann Smith. The Granny Smith apple was widely propagated in New Zealand and then introduced to the United Kingdom around 1935 and then later to the United States in 1972. Excellent for both cooking and eating raw, the Granny Smith apple are excellent for salads because the slices do not brown as quickly as other varieties.
